Op-Ed: Israel Preparing for Biblical War

Op-Ed: Israel Preparing for Biblical War

Last week at the graduation ceremony for new Israeli naval officers, IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Gen. Aviv Kochavi said that the Jewish state was preparing for war on no fewer than six fronts.

Where are the six fronts and who are the nations who the Deputy Chief of Staff was referring to? The answer is found In Scripture in Psalm 83. This Psalm lists the primary nations that will soon come against Israel, and they are the nations that primarily border Israel. These nations are:

Hezbollah in Lebanon
Syria
Jordan
Hamas in Gaza
Sinai where ISIS holds sway

The sixth front the Deputy Chief of Staff was referring to will likely be the “cyber war front,” waged by Iran and the Russians against Israel.

The Chief of Staff did not include however, the additional front number seven, which will most likely include Iran, whose forces are positioned in Syria on established military bases that include precision guided missiles, drones, and possibly special forces. Iran currently is supplying funding, weapons, training, and ballistic missiles, to Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and to their own forces in Syria.

Interestingly, Psalm 83 does not list Iran as a primary combatant in this war, but the Psalm does specifically name Amalek. Out of the ancient nation of Amalek a man arose whose name was Haman, who lived in the kingdom of Babylon during the time of Queen Esther, and sought the complete destruction of all the Jews living in the kingdom. Amalek is the living personification of Iran today!

Additional front number eight is Turkey. Again, while Turkey is not listed in Psalm 83 among the nations who come against Israel in this war, they will very likely supply intelligence, logistical support, and possibly resupply of weapons to the Muslim nations seeking Israel’s destruction.

Just this past month, Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan exposed his regime’s desire to form an “Army of Islam” to attack and destroy the State of Israel. The article calls on the 57 member nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) throughout the Muslim world to join forces against the Israeli “occupiers” who would then be vastly outnumbered and unable to defend their country.

Erdogan’s statements in an article were translated and posted by MEMRI (Middle East Media Research Institute). The article details how combined ground, air and naval forces could defeat Israel militarily in 10 days and diplomatically in 20 days, thereby liberating “Palestine.”

Little did President Erdogan understand that his actions and words were prophesied long ago in Psalm 83, as he joined with the Iranians in calling for the destruction of the Nation of Israel.

“They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more.” For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant.”  Psalm 83:4-5

The nations named in Psalm 83 who covenant together to destroy Israel all have several things in common. First they are all Muslim nations and they are all members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as well.

So we are witnessing prophecy coming to pass thousands of years after it was written, for a time such as this.

Additional front number nine is Russia. Russia is not listed among the nations coming against Israel in this biblical war, however Russia during the Obama administration established a very large naval base in Syria, as well as several large air bases with the latest Russian aircraft, and their most advanced ground to air missile defense systems.

The Russians enabled Syria to prevail in the war with ISIS and those seeking the overthrow of President Assad. Their military aircraft have provided an offensive and defensive capability that has turned the tide in favour of President Assad. Consequently, Russia will do everything in their power to keep Assad in power, even if this means fighting Israel.

During the 1967 Yom Kippur war remember the U.S.S.R took an active role in Egypt’s air defense, providing their latest equipment along with thousands of “Russian advisors.” In fact, Soviet participation went far beyond a training role. Russians operated their most sophisticated radars and surface to air missiles and were successful in downing several Israeli fighter planes. Russian pilots even flew Egyptian Migs until Israeli Phantoms and Mirages shot down five Russian pilots, without a single loss, in a massive dogfight.

Today, Russia is much more committed to Syria than it was to Egypt in 1973, as they must now protect their vast naval base and port in Syria filled with Russian ships, sailors, special forces, engineers, pilots, ground to air missile defense systems, along with their air bases and air craft. So the likely scenario of Russian involvement in this coming biblical war against Israel is almost a given, in some form or fashion.

One might rightly ask, how can Israel survive against the overwhelming evil and all the military forces on the nine fronts arrayed against them? The answer lies not in the strength of Israel’s IDF and IAF, but in the faithfulness of the God of Israel to His covenant with Israel.

Understand, according to the Scriptures prophesied above in Psalm 83, the Muslim nations who have conspired together with one mind have made a covenant against the Lord God of Israel Himself, that the name of Israel will be remembered no more!

Consequently, the coming war is not just a war, its a war to destroy not only the people and nation of Israel, but to prove that the God of Israel is not God, rather that Allah is God.

Perhaps the prophecy written in Isaiah 43 regarding the God of Israel and how He views Himself and the people of the nation of Israel says it best:

Isaiah 43:10-13

“Israel, You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
So that you may know and believe Me
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
And there will be none after Me.
“I, even I, am the Lord,
And there is no savior besides Me.
“It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed,
And there was no strange god among you;
So you are My witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“And I am God.
“Even from eternity I am He,
And there is none who can deliver out of My hand;
I act and who can reverse it?”

And as for those leaders and nations who would seek Israel’s destruction through war, perhaps they should read Isaiah 41 very carefully, and reconsider their actions before they attack Israel.

Isaiah 41:12-16

“Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.”
“You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them,Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent.”
“For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand,
Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’
“Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel;
I will help you,” declares the Lord, “and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
“Behold, I have made you a new, sharp threshing sledge with double edges;
You will thresh the mountains and pulverize them,
And will make the hills like chaff.
“You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away,
And the storm will scatter them;
But you will rejoice in the Lord,
You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.”
