The sound of the shofar holds deep spiritual truths that can pierce even the hardest of hearts. The trumpet made of a ram’s horn is blown hundreds of times on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. An instrument used on this special day each New Year, since ancient times to awaken God’s people from their spiritual sleep, and enter into prayers of repentance, asking God for forgiveness, in preparation for the year to come.
It was the instrument the Lord had the Jewish people use because It produces many sounds, each piercing and profound in nature, a jarring call of awakening. It was used as well to call to assembly to hear a declaration which the Lord God would make through one of His chosen.
Yet another use was to sound the Shofar to call the Jewish people to battle with their enemy.
Trumpet-er is a website designed to send forth news regarding the things the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is doing, primarily in Israel, but also in other parts of the world that influence or have impact upon Israel as a nation known to the Jewish people throughout the world as their “home land.”
The Jewish people the world over, who celebrate Rosh Hashanah, will be doing so starting September 20 at sundown. This holiday is a 2 day holiday, so it will end at sundown on Friday just as Shabbat begins.
May the sounds of His instrument pierce your hearts this year, causing us all to hear His call to to return to Him!
